Garden History
The Garden's original design was by Brett Steers in October 2006. It was first established in January 2007 with an $18,000 grant from Housing Tas in a disused Council owned park. It has evolved into an oasis of greenery, activity and inclusion.
A twelve month grant of $50,000 from Dept of Health & Ageing in 2008 allowed employment of a part time Project Officer and a Trainee which saw the Garden develop rapidly.
Currently the Garden is supported through the Community House by a part-time gardener supervising two volunteer gardening mornings per week – Mondays & Thursdays 9am – 12pm. The Garden is accessed regularly by locals, schools and groups enjoying this calm and peaceful oasis.
